Project Name: University of Tennessee Medical Center Emergency Department

Purpose: To expand the resuscitative capability of the ED at UT to deal with the increased number of trauma patients as well as patients with other time-sensitive diseases, such as stroke and acute MI; to improve the area in the ED to care for patients with medical and psychiatric issues; to create an area to better deal with novel infectious diseases in the ED, and to improve the decontamination capabilities of the ED at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, which has seen patient volume double over 5 years.

Project Name: City of Friendsville Downtown Sewer

Requested Amount: $2.04 million

Purpose: To provide sewer service to residents of the City of Friendsville who have experienced widespread septic system failures due to high concentrations of rock and red clay. Sewer to the area will eliminate extreme health issues.

Project Name: Knoxville-Knox County Community Action Committee (CAC) Mobile Meals Kitchen

Requested Amount: $500,000

Intended Recipient: Knoxville-Knox County Community Action Committee (CAC)

Purpose: For facility upgrades and updated kitchen equipment, including 100-gallon kettles, steam-boiler, and six (6) retherm ovens with the capacity to heat 192 meals at the Knoxville-Knox County Community Action Committee (CAC) Mobile Meals Program at 2247 Western Ave, Knoxville, Knox County, TN 37921, which since 1965 has offered a variety of programs that promote self-sufficiency. The current Mobile Meals Kitchen is 18 years old, with aging equipment that has high repair costs and is increasingly dangerous and in need of maintenance. Annually, the kitchen produces over 520,000 hot meals and 174,620 other components, and the need for these services is growing.

Project Name: City of Friendsville 2021 City Sidewalk Program

Requested Amount: $1.375 million

Purpose: For the remaining sidewalk system along North and South Farnum, Miser Station to city limits, Morgan Street, and West College in downtown Friendsville, which will provide for a safe walking area to all major points in the area. The City of Friendsville is connecting a sidewalk that runs in front of the city hall and elementary school with other key points in the downtown area, as part of a wider program to give citizens a safe area to walk and attract new residents.

Project Name: Boys & Girls Club of Claiborne County Facilities

Requested Amount: $100,000

Intended Recipient: Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley

Purpose: To revitalize the old athletic courts on the Walters State Community College Claiborne County Campus for use by the newly formed Boys & Girls of Claiborne County, including resurfacing the original court, new fencing around the court, new lighting, and adding a handicap accessible ramp. The court has not been used since 2004 and, if revitalized, would provide numerous outdoor activities for club members in a secure and easily observed space. The request is supported by the Claiborne Economic Partnership, Claiborne County Economic & Community Development Board, and Claiborne County School System.

Project Name: Bluegrass Lake Flood Remediation

Requested Amount: $9 million

Intended Recipient: Knox County Government/City of Knoxville

Purpose: For the development of a pumping facility and reconstruction of the tunnel system as the primary means of Bluegrass Lake water level control. Flooding from Bluegrass Lake has made State Route 332 and Interstate 140 unpassable and has affected residential properties and Ten Mile Drainage Basin sanitary sewer pumping, impacting the health and safety of residents and visitors of Knoxville and Knox County, TN.
