Washington, D.C. (03/26/2026) -- Today, Delivering on Government Efficiency (DOGE) Chairman Tim Burchett (TN-02) and Ranking Member Melanie Stansbury (NM-01) introduced the Duplication Scoring Act. This bill will require the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to review bills reported by committees for potential duplication of existing federal programs. The GAO will also be required to share its findings with the Congressional Budget Office for public release.

(03/24/2026) — Today, the United States House of Representatives passed H.R. 2247, the Airmen Certificate Accessibility Act, a bill aimed at modernizing Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) inspection processes by allowing pilots to present either physical or digital copies of legally required certification documents. H.R. 2247 was introduced by Rep. Tim Burchett (TN-02).

Washington, D.C. (03/19/2026) -- Today, Congressman Burchett sent a letter to the Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, requesting that the name of the USNS Cesar Chavez be changed. This request was made due to the recent news coming out about Chavez’s alleged sexual abuse.

 “Due to recent revelations that Mr. Chavez sexually abused women and children, I am respectfully requesting that you rename the vessel to someone who better reflects American values.”

Washington, DC (March 5, 2026) -- Today, Congressman Tim Burchett (TN02) introduced the “American Meat Freedom Act.” This bill amends the Federal Meat Inspection Act to allow meat products to be shipped, transported, offered for sale, and sold in interstate commerce. It is time we recognized small and medium-scale meat producers who are limited in their ability to access interstate markets.

Washington, DC (March 2, 2026) -- Today, the family of Master Sergeant Roddie Edmonds, from Knoxville, TN, received the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions in World War II. Roddie was captured during the Battle of the Bulge and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp. Master Sergeant Edmonds was the highest-ranking soldier captured, and the Nazi’s ordered him to identify the men who were Jewish.

Washington, DC (February 11, 2026) -- Today, Congressman Tim Burchett (TN02) voted YES on the SAVE America Act. The bill was introduced by Congressman Chip Roy (TX21) and is cosponsored by Congressman Burchett. The SAVE America Act requires individuals to provide documentary proof of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote and to present photo identification to cast a ballot in federal elections.
