The House has the Power of the Purse, and we need to take that authority seriously. Our leaders need to recognize that every dollar we spend comes from the hard-earned paychecks of the American people, and it’s time for Congress to reverse its irresponsible spending habits and get back to a place of fiscal responsibility.

I come from a family of educators, and I believe our federal government is not properly equipped to make decisions about schools and teaching across the United States. We should abolish the Department of Education and return authority back to state and local governments which can better address the education needs of their communities.

The United States is the greatest country in the world, and we need to act like it. Our leaders need to project strength on the world stage, because our adversaries like China and Iran become emboldened when we show weakness. We need to hold our enemies accountable for their bad actions and demonstrate our strength and resolve whenever necessary.

Federal elected officials need to bring America's highways, airports, railways and other assets into the 21st Century by wisely investing taxpayer dollars in forward-looking projects that address our country’s needs.

The federal government should follow Tennessee’s fiscal management methods like the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s pay-as-you-go model (PAYGO) to ensure our government doesn’t overspend.

The men and women who sign up to protect our country’s freedoms deserve proper recognition and respect, not just on Veterans Day and Memorial Day, but every day of the year.

My father fought in the Pacific, and my mother lost a brother in World War II fighting the Nazis. So, I grew up hearing firsthand stories of service and sacrifice. I owe everything but my salvation to our military servicemen and women.

Leaders in Congress and the Pentagon are far too comfortable keeping Americans in the dark about how they operate and use their tax dollars. We have a major overclassification problem that needs to be taken seriously. The coverups need to come to an end.

I strongly support our Bill of Rights, including the Second Amendment. I believe the U.S. Constitution guarantees the right to keep and bear arms, and I am committed to protecting this constitutional right for all law-abiding citizens.

Americans have paid into Social Security and Medicare their whole lives and deserve to receive the benefits from it. Unfortunately, our government is quickly leading our Social Security and Medicare programs down the path to bankruptcy through reckless spending habits.
