Washington, D.C. (05/20/2026) -- Today, Congressman Tim Burchett’s (TN-02) bill, the Duplication Scoring Act, passed the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. This bill will require the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to review bills reported by committees for potential duplication of existing federal programs. The GAO will also be required to share its findings with the Congressional Budget Office for public release.

(04/30/2026) -- Today, Congressman Tim Burchett (TN-02) introduced the “Veterans Protection from Fraud Act.” This bill would establish a sentencing enhancement of up to ten years in prison for someone convicted of committing or conspiring to commit fraud that purposefully targeted a veteran. This bill was also introduced in the Senate by Senator Cortez Masto and Senator Budd.

(03/24/2026) — Today, the United States House of Representatives passed H.R. 2247, the Airmen Certificate Accessibility Act, a bill aimed at modernizing Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) inspection processes by allowing pilots to present either physical or digital copies of legally required certification documents. H.R. 2247 was introduced by Rep. Tim Burchett (TN-02).

Washington, D.C. (03/19/2026) -- Today, Congressman Burchett sent a letter to the Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, requesting that the name of the USNS Cesar Chavez be changed. This request was made due to the recent news coming out about Chavez’s alleged sexual abuse.
“Due to recent revelations that Mr. Chavez sexually abused women and children, I am respectfully requesting that you rename the vessel to someone who better reflects American values.”
