(09/18/2026): As a result of the DOGE hearing, “Fixing Fraud and Failure in Federally Funded Homelessness Services,” Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has resigned from the Los Angeles Homeless Service Authority (LAHSA) Commission, and the Department of Justice has charged multiple individuals associated with organizations that contracted with LAHSA.

This bill will require the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to review bills reported by committees for potential duplication of existing federal programs. The GAO will also be required to share its findings with the Congressional Budget Office for public release.

(04/30/2026) -- Today, Congressman Tim Burchett (TN-02) introduced the “Veterans Protection from Fraud Act.” This bill would establish a sentencing enhancement of up to ten years in prison for someone convicted of committing or conspiring to commit fraud that purposefully targeted a veteran. This bill was also introduced in the Senate by Senator Cortez Masto and Senator Budd.
