Burchett’s Motion to Subpoena Ghislaine Maxwell Approved by House Oversight Committee

Washington, D.C. (July 22, 2025) - Today, U.S. Congressman Tim Burchett successfully offered a motion directing the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform to issue a subpoena compelling Ms. Ghislaine Maxwell to appear for a deposition. The motion passed the Government Operations Subcommittee unanimously and follows a formal request submitted by Rep. Burchett last week urging the Committee to secure Ms. Maxwell’s testimony.
Ms. Maxwell is widely known for her role in facilitating Jeffery Epstein’s sex trafficking operation. Her sworn deposition will help shed light on the extent of Epstein’s criminal network, efforts to conceal his crimes, and the cover up that followed. This subpoena is a critical step towards transparency and accountability for victims of abuse and for the American people.
“Today, I am proud to announce that the Oversight Committee approved my motion directing Chairman Comer to subpoena Ms. Ghislaine Maxwell to appear before the House Oversight Committee. This deposition will help the American people understand how Jeffrey Epstein was able to carry out his evil actions for so long without being brought to justice.”
