Congressman Tim Burchett reflects on six-month anniversary of botched Afghanistan withdrawal

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 15, 2022) – Today marks six months since the Taliban seized control of Kabul, the capital city of Afghanistan. U.S. Representative Tim Burchett (TN-02) released the following statement reflecting on this anniversary:
“My prayers are with the American citizens -- including the family of U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Ryan Knauss – and Afghan partners who are suffering from the painful exit from Afghanistan six months ago. President Biden’s failed leadership left hundreds of Americans stranded in a hostile country, handed over advanced military hardware to terrorists, and weakened the United States’ global reputation. Along with my House Foreign Affairs Committee colleagues, I will keep demanding explanations from Biden administration bureaucrats about how many Americans are still unaccounted for in Afghanistan and why the withdrawal went so wrong.”
