January 19, 2023

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 19, 2023)U.S. Representative Tim Burchett (TN-02) will join the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability for the 118th Congress. This is the primary investigative committee in the U.S. House of Representatives and oversees government operations.

The Committee’s mission is to “ensure the efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability of the federal government and all its agencies” and will be led by Chairman James Comer (KY-01)

“I’ve been pushing for our government to be more transparent and accountable to the American people since I came to Congress,” said Rep. Burchett. “I’m thrilled to serve on this committee, and I’m looking forward to shining a light on all the shady dealings in Washington that have been swept under the rug for too long.”

“With Rep. Burchett and our Republican members, this Congress we’ve got an all-star lineup ready to hit the ground running and go to bat for the American people. Unchecked, one-party Democrat rule in Washington resulted in crises on every front, but with our Republican majority, oversight and accountability are here. Together, we will return the House Oversight and Accountability Committee to its mission to root out waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement in the federal government and hold the Biden Administration accountable. We will work to ensure American taxpayers’ investment in the federal government is spent effectively, efficiently, and transparently, and will propose solutions when problems are identified.” said Chairman Comer.
