Rep. Burchett reintroduces Protecting Jobs and Wages from Regulations Act

May 19, 2021
WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 19, 2021) –U.S. Representative Tim Burchett (TN-02) reintroduced H.R. 3270, the Protecting Jobs and Wages from Regulations Act, legislation focused on reforming the regulatory process at federal agencies.
"When a federal agency proposes a new regulation, the public has the right to know why it's necessary and what effects it will have on the economy." Rep. Burchett said. "Unelected federal bureaucrats sometimes make bad decisions that harm workers' employment or pay. My bill creates more transparency in the rule-making process so we can stop these kinds of mistakes before they happen."
Rep. Burchett's legislation requires federal agencies to disclose the impacts a proposed rule would have on jobs and wages. It would also require federal agencies to specify what problem the proposed rule addresses and allow members of the public to submit comments before the rule is implemented.
Rep. Burchett's bill was included in the Republican Study Committee's fiscal year 2022 budget proposal, which was rolled out earlier this afternoon.
