Rep. Burchett statement on vote against the National Defense Authorization Act of FY23

WASHINGTON, D.C., (Dec. 8, 2022) – Today, U.S. Congressman Tim Burchett released the following statement regarding his vote against the National Defense Authorization Act of FY23.
“This $847.3 billion bill – which is $45 billion MORE than the president requested – includes woke sections that focus on diversity and making the Department of Defense more climate friendly, but fails to do important things like reinstate servicemembers who refused to get a COVID-19 vaccine or fully prohibit our government from buying drones made in China.
Last year, the text of the NDAA was about two inches thick. This year it was about 10 inches thick. We need to cut the woke nonsense out of these important bills and pass ones that are clean and responsible. We can't play games with our national security.”
