January 25, 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C., (Jan. 25, 2023) – On the latest episode of Tennessee Talks, Washington Nationals outfielder Lane Thomas joined Rep. Tim Burchett (TN-02) to discuss Lane’s success while finding his way through the minor leagues, the analytics that define the game, and what it takes to lock down a big contract.

"Lane is a stand-up guy and a heck of a ball striker," said Rep. Burchett. "We had a great time talking about his journey from Bearden High School all the way to the big leagues. He makes the city of Knoxville and the state of Tennessee proud by representing us the way he does.”

Lane Thomas was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee and is a Bearden High School alum. Thomas committed to the University of Tennessee as a sophomore in high school and was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays organization after his senior year. Lane played outfield for both the Toronto Blue Jays and St. Louis Cardinals organization before being traded to the Washington Nationals in 2021. In addition to playing professional ball, Lane co-owns Knox Cabinet Company with his sister.
