WASHINGTON, D.C. (Dec. 9, 2020) – Today, U.S. Representative Tim Burchett (TN-02) voted against a measure to temporarily fund the government until Friday, December 18. Congress previously passed a short-term funding measure on September 22 after failing to fully fund the government for fiscal year 2021. Rep. Burchett released the following statement regarding his vote:

“Nine months wasn’t enough time for appropriators to figure out how to fund the government back in September so they went with a continuing resolution, and here we are three months later with the same result. This is getting ridiculous and the worst part is we will pass a third temporary funding measure next week. Congress needs to fulfill its Constitutional duty and pass an actual budget for fiscal year 2022 so we avoid this disastrous process next year.”
