KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (March 15, 2024) – Today, U.S. Congressman Tim Burchett (TN-02) wrote a letter to U.S. Capitol Police Chief John Thomas Manger demanding the charges against Steve Nikoui be dropped. Nikoui was arrested during the State of the Union speech on March 7, 2024 when he stood in the gallery and yelled during the speech.

"This is something that can bring members on both sides of the aisle together," said Rep. Burchett. "There's a lot of good things that can be done when it comes to composting and recycling, and launching this caucus this is a good first step to get members working on it together."

The first bill, H.R. 7484, would require members of Congress who are foreign nationals to file a statement of their status as a foreign national, and for other purposes.
