(Jan. 2, 2020) - Congressman Tim Burchett's local team will staff Mobile Office Hours at three locations during January making it easier for constituents to get federal agency assistance and pass on opinions. WASHINGTON – The House of Representatives approved legislation that would fund the government through September 2020 this afternoon.

Details of this spending deal, also known as a minibus, were not revealed to Members of Congress until yesterday afternoon. This gave Members of Congress little time to review the thousands of pages detailing how taxpayer dollars were being spent.

KNOXVILLE, TENN. -- Congressman Tim Burchett (TN-02) released the following statement regarding the passing of former State Senator Sue Atchley:

"While I was sad to hear the news of Sue's passing, I'm comforted knowing she'll get to spend this Christmas in Heaven reunited with Ben. The Atchleys were dear friends and mentors who served our state and our community selflessly. Their entire family is in my prayers."

WASHINGTON – This evening, the House of Representatives passed the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2020 (NDAA). Congressman Tim Burchett (TN-02) voted in favor of the bill.

Included in the defense budget is funding to defend America's borders and citizens, a pay increase for military personnel, and full benefits owed to recently widowed military spouses. Rep. Burchett believes this builds America's military strength and keeps Americans safe, as well as provides improved benefits to those serving in our armed forces.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Tim Burchett (TN-02) and Knox County Sheriff Tom Spangler are asking residents of Knox County to keep an eye out for a missing member of the community. Jack Harrison, a 77-year-old man from Halls, was last seen on Nov. 17 at the Walmart in Halls. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing jeans, a polo shirt, a brown jacket and a Denver Broncos baseball hat.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Tim Burchett (TN-02) and Congressman Ed Case (HI-01) introduced the Reforming America's Fiscal Toolkit Act of 2019 (RAFT Act). This bipartisan legislation changes Congress's budget procedures in order to establish a lower public debt relative to America's gross domestic product (GDP). GDP is a measure of a nation's economic output.
