WASHINGTON, D.C., (Apr. 26, 2023) – Today, U.S. Congressman Tim Burchett (TN-02) voted against legislation that would raise the debt ceiling. 

H.R. 2811, the Limit, Save, Grow Act of 2023 would suspend the debt limit through March 31, 2024 or until an increase in debt of $1.5 trillion, whichever comes first. It would also allow discretionary spending to grow by 1% each year through FY2033.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn., (Apr. 24, 2023) – Today, U.S. Congressman Tim Burchett (TN-02) reintroduced the Master Sergeant Roddie Edmonds Congressional Gold Medal Act.

"Roddie Edmonds showed incredible bravery that should make every American proud," said Rep. Burchett. "He fearlessly faced down Nazi soldiers during World War II and saved hundreds of Jewish lives when he refused to turn in his fellow Jewish servicemembers, even at gunpoint. This Congressional Gold Medal is a fitting way to honor his legacy."

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Mar. 10, 2023) – The U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 140, the Protecting Speech from Government Interference Act

The Protecting Speech from Government Interference Act would expressly prohibit federal employees from censoring lawful speech. The bill prohibits agency employees from using their official authority or resources to influence or pressure a private sector platform to censor, remove, suppress, or restrict any lawful speech posted on its platform by a person or entity.
