WASHINGTON – The House of Representatives passed the Prison to Proprietorship for Formerly Incarcerated Act this afternoon. Congressman Tim Burchett (TN-02) served as the Republican lead for this bill and worked with Congressman Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08) to draft the legislation.

"The United States has the right to defend itself from any threat. Iran and its puppets put American lives at risk when our embassy was attacked in Iraq. Today, President Trump and our military took appropriate action against Iran and its terrorist general, Qassem Soleimani. The message is clear: any hostility toward Americans will not be tolerated."

WASHINGTON – The House of Representatives approved legislation that would fund the government through September 2020 this afternoon.

Details of this spending deal, also known as a minibus, were not revealed to Members of Congress until yesterday afternoon. This gave Members of Congress little time to review the thousands of pages detailing how taxpayer dollars were being spent.

WASHINGTON – This evening, the House of Representatives passed the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2020 (NDAA). Congressman Tim Burchett (TN-02) voted in favor of the bill.

Included in the defense budget is funding to defend America's borders and citizens, a pay increase for military personnel, and full benefits owed to recently widowed military spouses. Rep. Burchett believes this builds America's military strength and keeps Americans safe, as well as provides improved benefits to those serving in our armed forces.
