WASHINGTON, D.C., (October 3, 2023) – Today, U.S. Congressman Tim Burchett (TN-02) released the following statement on his intention to vote for the motion to vacate the chair.

“I have to vote my conscience. We failed to do our job and pass a budget and then passed a temporary spending bill to extend the deadline like we do every year. It’s a tough decision, but I’m poised to vote for the motion to vacate because we are $33 trillion dollars in debt. We either need to change our direction or change our leadership.”

“Kelly and I are praying for family of Officer Tucker Blakely, who was shot and killed in the line of duty. Our law enforcement officers risk their lives every time they put on the uniform, and we are grateful for that every day. We will never forget their sacrifice. God bless the Knox County Sheriff’s Department.”

WASHINGTON, D.C., (September 29, 2023) – An amendment submitted by U.S. Congressman Tim Burchett (TN-02) was included in the State and Foreign Operations appropriations bill that passed the House of Representatives.

This amendment prohibits funds from being used in the State Department’s Art in Embassies program.

This amendment prohibits funds from being used for the Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, which is led by multimillionaire and former secretary of state John Kerry.
