WASHINGTON, D.C. (Feb. 27, 2021) – Early this morning, the House of Representatives voted on the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan. U.S. Representative Tim Burchett (TN-02) opposed this piece of legislation.
Rep. Burchett gave remarks during debate on the House floor ahead of the vote, pointing out this bill was not drafted with East Tennesseans in mind.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (Feb. 26, 2021) – Today, the Lee Administration announced global IT and business consulting company CGI, Inc. will open a new operation in Knoxville. CGI's new location will create 300 new jobs for East Tennesseans and generate economic activity in Knoxville through a $27 million investment. CGI will also partner with local higher education institutions like the University of Tennessee to help train and retain students in East Tennessee.

This legislation would require the United States Postal Service (USPS) to work alongside municipal governments before determining the type of mail service a community receives.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 16, 2021) – U.S. Representatives Tim Burchett (TN-02) and Ed Case (HI-01) have reintroduced H.R. 915, the Reforming America's Fiscal Toolkit Act of 2021 (RAFT Act). This legislation amends Congress's budget process to establish a lower U.S. public debt relative to gross domestic product (GDP).

The House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee held a hearing today on coronavirus relief measures related to America's transportation industries and infrastructure assets. These measures are expected to be included in a larger COVID-19 stimulus package.
During the hearing, U.S. Representative Tim Burchett (TN-02) offered an amendment to prohibit airline executives from using coronavirus relief money directed towards their businesses to pay themselves large bonuses. The committee's Democrat majority rejected the Burchett amendment.
