KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Jan 8, 2021) – United States Capitol Police (USCP) officer Brian Sicknick has died from injuries sustained during the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol Building. U.S. Representative Tim Burchett (TN-02) has released the following statement:

"U.S. Capitol Police officers protect everyone visiting the heart of our nation's democracy, and it is terrible to hear an officer lost their life protecting us from violence. I'm praying for Officer Sicknick's family and fellow officers during this difficult time."

"The rioting at the U.S. Capitol is disgusting and criminal. The President needs to publicly tell his supporters to stop or else people are going to get hurt or possibly die. Thank God for the United States Capitol Police officers working to get the situation under control; they have families just like we do."
